At times it may feel overwhelming to move your real estate investing forward. You may even feel like it is impossible for you. You might even begin to think that only “other people” can be successful, but the decks are stacked against you.
I’m here to tell you that is all a big bunch of bunk.
When my wife and I wanted to get started in real estate we thought we’d set the world on fire in just a couple of months. Money would be pouring it.
For 2 years we never did a deal. I wanted to throw in the towel more than once. I figured I’d never find a deal, and even if I did, I could never fund it.
Only the dream of a better life (and my wife’s undying support) got me through. After 2 long years, we bought our first investment rehab using none of our own money or credit. Zero. Nothing.
After that we did another one. And another one. And another one. Still never using our own money or credit.
Before long, we were making more part time at real estate than our two corporate jobs combined.
We each left our jobs to focus full time on real estate.
That was 1997. We haven’t had a job since.
Not only has real estate investing provided us more money than we ever would have made climbing the corporate ladder, it gave us our time back.
With real estate we have been able to be at all of our children’s – and grandchildren’s school functions, games, recitals, awards.
We never ask for time off and we never ask permission to take a trip.
I’m not telling you this to brag. I’m offering a beacon of what is possible.
We did not have the skills. We did not have the money. Frankly, we really didn’t have the time.
We had a dream for a better life – and we kept pushing until we found a way to invest in real estate despite the obstacles we faced.
Our life has been truly blessed over these last 20+ years, but none of that would have been possible if we had given up.
Don’t let anyone steal your dream from you. Real estate investing is real. The profits are real. The free time is real.
Just believe in yourself and make it happen. Do whatever it takes. I promise the rewards are amazing.
